A painting a week, so far

So far, I have succeeded in painting an average of one painting a week.  The weekly challenge on Daily Paint Works has kept me inspired.

As an artist who is used to painting and completing a work in a year, this is progress for me!  I will press on, though and make daily painting my goal.

Claude was an older declawed cat we found at the local humane society. He was scheduled for euthanasia the next day, so we took him. He lived with us about 6 years before he passed. I took a photo of him a few days before he left us. I've always wanted to do a painting of him, so this week's challenge gave me the nudge I needed to do it. RIP, Claude

I did it!

Began painting number 1 yesterday. Will finish it today.  I have to admit, it feels wonderful!   With the purchase of 27 6×6 canvases, I am ready to jump into every-other-day painting.  Here’s what I have so far. . .

Daily Painting?

I am reading a wonderful book by Carol Marine “Daily Painting, Paint Small and Often to Become a More Creative, Productive, and Successful Artist”, which is inspiring and motivating me to do daily work.  I found her website, http://www.dailypaintworks.com and jumped right in!  This site is one of the only I have seen that really supports the growth of us as artists and encourages me to spend time each day painting.

We we shall see how this goes.  Right now I have been pulled out of retirement to work full time again for a few weeks, so I won’t be able to start until the first of December.  It’s funny how, when I had all the time in the world to create, I didn’t.   I was not inspired or maybe in a block.  Thinking what I painted had to be perfect.   Now I see that it’s not about being perfect.  It is, most definitely about the daily practice!
